Spotify actively restricts third-party commercial applications. To bypass our default platform quotas and ensure your gym's timer never disconnects, you can easily generate your own free Spotify Developer Key.

Step 1: Create a Spotify App

Go to the Spotify Developer Dashboard and log in with your Premium account.
Click the Create App button.
App Name: Train-Time Gym (or your gym's name)
App Description: Interval Timer
Website: https://train-time.com
Redirect URIs: Type exactly https://train-time.com and click Add.
Agree to the developer terms and click Save.

            Step 2: Copy Your Client ID
            On your new app's dashboard, click Settings.
Find the Client ID (a long string of letters and numbers) and copy it.
Note: You do NOT need the "Client Secret". For your security, Train-Time uses a modern PKCE flow that only requires the public Client ID.

        

            Step 3: Connect to Train-Time
            Go back to the Train-Time home screen and click ⚙️ Settings.
Paste your Client ID into the box and click Save Details.
When you create a profile and click "Connect Spotify", it will now use your unlimited, personal connection!

1. Data Collection and Storage

Train-Time is a 100% "client-side" application. We do not have a database, and we do not store your data on our servers. All workout profiles, routine names, custom Client IDs, and Spotify Access Tokens are stored locally on your own device (inside your browser's Local Storage).

2. Spotify API Usage

To provide automated audio control, Train-Time uses the official Spotify Web API. When you log in, we request the following permissions:

Read Playback State: To know which device is playing the gym music.
Modify Playback State: To pause, play, and change the volume during work/rest transitions.
Read Private/Collaborative Playlists: To allow you to select your own playlists for your workout cards.

We do not access your email, billing info, or personal profile data. You can revoke this app's access to your Spotify account at any time via your Spotify Account Settings.

3. Data Sharing

Because your data never leaves your device, we do not (and physically cannot) sell, share, or distribute your personal data or listening habits to any third parties.
